What does a service cost?

$95 for the standard one — brakes and gears adjusted, drivetrain cleaned, wheels trued in the frame, bolts checked. Parts are on top and I will ring you before I fit anything over $40.

A tune-up, meaning brakes and gears only, is $45 while you wait if the bench is free.

Do you work on electric bikes?

Mechanically yes — brakes, gears, wheels, bearings. I do not open motors, batteries or controllers, and I will not diagnose a fault in one. That goes back to whoever sold it.

My wheel is buckled. Is it worth fixing?

Usually. A true is $35 a wheel and most wheels come back. If the rim is cracked at an eyelet or the braking surface is worn through I will show you the crack rather than charge you to straighten something that is finished.

Can you get parts for an old bike?

Often. Five and six speed freewheels, cottered cranks, French threads — a lot of it is still findable and I have a box of it. Bring the bike, not a photo. Threads need measuring.

Do you sell bikes?

No. There is a shop on Hunter Street that does and they are good. I fix things.

How long is the wait?

Roughly a week and a half at the moment. It stretches to three weeks in spring, which is when everybody remembers they own a bike. Walk-ins Thursday only, first in.

What do you not do?

Suspension internals, carbon repair, hydraulic bleeds on anything I do not have the kit for, and insurance write-up quotes. I will point you at someone for all four.
